“‘You coming, prince?” Gosh, his smiles are wicked.
“Yes princess.’”
MY. HEART.
If you haven’t read my review on “Dreaming of Fire,” the first book in Alyssa P Kelso’s The Dreamcatchers Series, (you can peek it here), you’re missing out. If you haven’t read the actual book, what are you waiting for? I couldn’t put “Dreaming of Fire” down, not even for a minute – so, of course, I had to immediately read book number 2 in the series, “Dreaming of Embers.”
Also, if you haven’t read “Dreaming of Fire” – stop reading this review IMMEDIATELY. There are spoilers ahead.
……………………………
Seriously. There are SPOILERS AHEAD for “Dreaming of Fire” (NOT for “Dreaming of Embers”).

You have been warned. Proceed at your own risk. 😎 Here’s my review for Book 2 in The Dreamcatcher Series by Alyssa P Kelse, “Dreaming of Embers.”
……………………………
Sienna Steel is boss babe goals, honestly. Not only did she finally make it to Neveah to truly begin her search for her parents, but she quickly found friends, enemies, creatures with questionable motives, and a couple gentlemen who have absolutely captured her attention.
I was already falling for Ryker throughout the first book (and so was Sienna), until he dropped a wildly large bomb on her, and the rest of Moonastaria. Ryker, prince of Feardawn, is her fiance? WHAT.
It’s important to note that he is, quite possibly, becoming one of my new favorite book boyfriends – nobody tell Colin, my real life soulmate who when asked about his response to a new book boyfriend said “what is there a dude sending you books? Cause I’ll fight him. I’ll reshelve him. I’ll dewey decimate him.” (Living a real life romance novel with this man). 🙄🤣
This whole series is truly so good that I’m afraid to spoil it by talking about it. I loved every second. The emotion that Alyssa is able to write and bring to life is beautiful. The character development in this book is exponential and SO well done – you truly walk through growing with Sienna, Ryker, and King Sodom especially. When I have a visceral reaction to a character in a book, you KNOW it’s well done, and the absolutely feral urge to get firefly and moth tattoos is wild.
“‘That’s right, Firefly. And if we can do that, we can do anything.” He squeezes me tight. I squeeze him tighter. “So long as you’re my Moth.’” LITERAL SWOON MOMENT. I wish I didn’t have mush brain in describing how wonderful the romantic relationship that develops is, while still building action and emotion, and all the things that make a good story epic.
TLDR: We begin “Dreaming of Embers” exactly where “Dreaming of Fire” ended – Ryker, prince of Feardawn, dropped a bomb on Sienna and all of Moonastaria. Sienna finally finds a path, and even more allies in finding her parents, but first – she’s engaged to the very prince who captured her attention and her rage. The tiny love triangle between Darius, Ryker and Sienna is SO well done. Character development is truly Alyssa’s forte. I am constantly surprised by how she built the characters in this story, and interwoven their paths in such an intricate, beautiful pattern. I’ve been a reader for a long time, and I really think that this series is one to keep your eye on. I said it in my review of the first book and I’ll say it again. I feel like it’s “Harry Potter” obsession level.
Keepin’ it WTH-worthy,
Kells
